The UK’s journey to Net Zero is picking up pace, and ensuring retrofit projects are well-coordinated and deliver lasting benefits is more important than ever. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that Coactivation has joined the Association of Retrofit Consultants (ARC) - a group of like-minded professionals working together to raise standards and improve outcomes in retrofit projects across the UK.

What is ARC & Why Does It Matter?

The Association of Retrofit Consultants (ARC) brings together experienced independent retrofit specialists to tackle the big challenges facing the industry. Too often, retrofit projects struggle due to inconsistent standards, project delays, funding issues, and a shortage of skilled professionals. ARC aims to change that by sharing expertise, driving best practice, and ensuring high-quality delivery.

Retrofit is a critical element of the UK’s transition to energy-efficient housing. With government funding schemes and incentives available, there is a growing need for independent, well-informed professionals to guide projects through planning, execution, and compliance. ARC members work together to address these challenges and develop industry-wide solutions that ensure projects meet regulatory and environmental targets while remaining cost-effective for clients.

This collaborative network focuses on key areas, including:

Retrofit Coordination & Risk Management – Making sure projects run smoothly from start to finish by mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with PAS 2035 standards.

Retrofit Design & Assessment – Providing expert assessments that ensure energy efficiency improvements are tailored, effective, and long-lasting.

Standardisation & Software Innovation – Helping the industry adopt more efficient methods and technology to streamline the retrofit process.

Funding & Policy Development – Working with policymakers and funding bodies to ensure accessible financial support for large-scale retrofit projects.

Workforce Diversity & Skills Development – Encouraging a more inclusive and highly skilled workforce to meet growing industry demand.

By working closely with organisations such as the National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG) and The Retrofit Academy, ARC is creating a collaborative environment to push the industry forward. This alliance is critical for shaping a cohesive and robust national retrofit strategy that benefits both large-scale public projects and private homeowners.

Why Coactivation is Joining ARC

At Coactivation, we believe that successful retrofit projects start with expert coordination and planning. We specialise in retrofit coordinationretrofit design, risk management, and strategic planning, ensuring our projects are:

✅ Well-managed and delivered efficiently, avoiding common project bottlenecks.

✅ Aligned with PAS 2035 standards, ensuring compliance with UK regulations.

✅ Designed to provide long-term value for homeowners, landlords, and local authorities, with a focus on sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

By joining ARC, we’re doubling down on our commitment to raising the bar in retrofit. This allows us to:

✅ Collaborate with industry experts to set new standards.

✅ Contribute to improving retrofit coordination best practices.

✅ Ensure that retrofit projects deliver measurable results for clients and communities.

✅ Gain access to the latest industry insights, innovations, and best practices.

Through ARC, we’ll also contribute to key discussions around improving supply chain efficiency, funding allocation, and regulatory alignment - ensuring that retrofitting is not only accessible but also executed to the highest possible standards.

What’s Next for Retrofit & Coactivation’s Role

The retrofit sector is evolving rapidly, with increased investment, new regulations, and growing demand for energy efficiency improvements. However, challenges like funding gaps, project complexity, and skills shortages still need to be addressed. Without properly coordinated efforts, many retrofitting projects risk inefficiency, cost overruns, and failing to meet sustainability targets.

As a member of ARC, Coactivation will:

▶️ Help shape policy and best practices to improve project efficiency.

▶️ Enhance risk management strategies to ensure better outcomes.

▶️ Support standardisation in retrofit practices for long-term success.

▶️ Work towards bridging the skills gap and training the next generation of retrofit professionals.

▶️ Engage in industry discussions that drive innovation, knowledge sharing, and better project delivery models.

ARC will also be actively involved in key industry events, including the National Retrofit Conference at Futurebuild 2025, where members will share insights and discuss the future of retrofit in the UK. These events provide an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, address ongoing challenges, and ensure that retrofit services continue to evolve with technological advancements and regulatory changes.

Let’s Work Together

We’re excited to be part of ARC and to work alongside fellow industry leaders to push retrofit standards to the next level.

Our goal is simple - help our clients to achieve high-quality, cost-effective, and impactful retrofit projects while ensuring compliance, sustainability, and long-term value.

If you’re involved in retrofit projects and need expert coordination, risk management, or design services, let’s talk. Whether you're a local authority, social housing provider, or a private homeowner looking for expert retrofit guidance, we’re here to help.
